Marcus Schinkel Solo

Marcus Schinkel Trio

Press Reviews

In high spirits and with a lively joy of playing, the Marcus Schinkel Trio gave the classics a fresh mix, improvising with overflowing imagination—the eternally relevant tools of the trade.

The trio impressed above all with its professional and perfect style of play. Marcus Schinkel was completely in his element, and his fingers glided across the keys almost as wildly as Beethoven's once did.

Schinkel's interpretation of the "Moonlight Sonata" was particularly pleasing. Behind the very successful reharmonization, the original form always remained recognizable; a true reformulation that did not lack respect for the original.

...delightful, how Schinkel offers the theme of "Für Elise" to pianistic gymnastics or how he sways the Allegretto of the 7th Symphony in Latin rhythms.

...exciting and entertaining stories from Beethoven's life between genius, madness, and comedy.
